On 26th May 2011, The Signing Ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between National Economics University (NEU) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) was taken place at G2.N7 Hall of NEU. The ceremony saw the presences of Ms Lucia Real Martin - Director of Emerging Markets – Asia at ACCA; Asso Prof. Dr Tran Tho Dat – Vice Rector of NEU; PhD Nguyen Thanh Ha – Head of Department of Administrative Affairs; PhD. Pham Truong Hoang – Head of Department of International Cooperation; PhD. Dao Thanh Tung – Deputy Head of Department of International Cooperation; PhD Nguyen Thi Hong Thuy – Lecturer of Faculty of Accounting and officials of Department of International Cooperation.

Founded in 1904 in London UK, with more than 100 years of experience, ACCA is one of the world's leading, fastest-growing and globally recognised career association in the accountancy profession with over 115,000 members and 296,000 students operating in 170 countries. ACCA focus on holding high quality exams and issuing ACCA international certificates and other certificates in Accounting, Auditing and Financial Management. Moreover, ACCA has also organized and been actively involved in various activities promoting accountancy in many countries, especially in developing ones.

Active in Vietnam since 1996 – 1997, the number of Vietnamese students and members of ACCA have rapidly increased so far. With more than 300 graduated students and approximately 3,300 students currently enrolling in ACCA courses in Vietnam, ACCA has made an active contribution to addressing the human resource management issues for business firms, especially FDI organizations as well as leading Vietnamese youth to various career opportunities.

The cooperation between NEU and ACCA is the initiation of professional cooperation between two reputable organizations. Both parties will share common concerns over the development of accountancy profession, especially maintaining and increasing occupational standards, education standards as well as the demand of international standardization of accountancy.

At the ceremony, Asso Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat said that the Memorandum of Understanding between NEU and ACCA is not only the initiation of professional cooperation between two organizations contributing to the active development of accountancy in Vietnam but also the occassion to NEU students to approach several learning opportunities and develop international standard accountancy profession.

Ms Lucia Real Martin – Director of Emerging Markets Asia at ACCA - expressed pleasure in the cooperation between ACCA and NEU. As the Director of Emerging Markets Asia at ACCA, she committed to provide favourable conditions to the development of ACCA programme in Vietnam in general and in NEU in particular.
