From 14th to 21st May 2011, Prof. Dr Nguyen Van Nam - Rector of NEU - and officials of Faculty of International Education and Personnel Department of NEU and Ministry of Education and Training of VietNam went on a mission trip to visit and work with NEU's partners in Europe. The main objectives of this trip were to sign cooperation agreements, strengthen and extend the cooperation in research and joint training with NEU's partners in order to make contribution to improving the quality of training and research in NEU.

In United Kingdom, the NEU's delegation paid an official visit to University of the West of England (UWE) and University of Sunderland (UoS). Our delegation was warmly welcomed by and worked with Prof. Steve West - President of UWE - and Vice President and Heads of several UWE's departments. Prof. Steve West accentuated the importance of the cooperation with NEU in training Economics - majoring students (in Banking and Finance) of International Bachelor Degree at NEU (IBD@NEU) Program operating in NEU's Faculty of International Education. Leaders of NEU and UWE discussed and agreed on continuing the plan of cooperating in Masters of Economics, Finance and Accounting Training Program and coordinating in Scientific Research Program in the future. NEU's delegation also had a campus tour to see a range of modern material facilities and accommodation of the two prestigious universities of England as well as of Europe.

The arrrival of NEU deputation in University of Sunderland (UoS) was cordially welcome by Prof. Peter Fidler - President of UoS and other members of UoS Board of Management. Prof. Peter Fidler highly appreciated the success of The Bachelor of Business Administration Program in cooperation with NEU for over 6 years. The leader of UoS asserted the study achievements of IBD@NEU students taking final academic year in UoS as well as the contribution of Vietnamese students to the multi cultural environment of UoS. Prof. Dr Nguyen Van Nam and Prof. Peter Fidler committed to develop and extend the cooperation as well as to provide favourable conditions to the Joint Training and Scientific Research Program between the two universities.

Another special feature of NEU's deputation's trip was the meeting of Prof. Dr Nguyen Van Nam with more than 20 IBD@NEU students who are studying their final academic year in UoS and other universities in England after completing their 3 years of study in Faculty of International Education in NEU.

The mission trip was continued with the delegation's visit to The Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management  (SBS - EM) - the two partners of NEU within the framework of the Vietnam - Belgium Master Programs. At the meeting among NEU's deputation and Prof. Didier Viviers - Rector of ULB, Prof. Bruno Van Pottelsberghe - President of SBS EM and other professors who are codirectors of Vietnam - Belgium Master Program, delegates consulted on the detailed plan to advance Vietnam - Belgium Master Program to a new height. Our delegation also listened to Prof. Marek Huon - Head of The Research Project on Microfinance - presenting the project and proposing cooprative research opportunities with NEU in micro-finance field.  Prof. Hugues Pirotte - Vice President of SBS EM - reported on the innovations of the MBA Program in SBS in order to assist the students to develop their future careers in the changing world. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Nam thanked for the close cooperation of ULB and SBS EM with NEU in  Vietnam - Belgium Master Program for 15 years and suggested to promote cooperation through exchange of traning and research experience among partners.

After leaving Belgium, NEU's delegation continued to visit Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) in Spain under the invitation of UAM -  one of NEU's important partners in Asia - Link Project for the 2002 - 2005 period. On this occasion, our deputation dicussed with UAM on prospects of cooperation in the field of scientific research and training.
