On 26 April 2017, Sumitomo Corporation organized the lecture number 2 in the academic year 2016-2917 on the topic: World Food Situation delivered by Mr. Hisao Harihara - Advisor of the Corporation.
From Sumitomo, there were Mr. Hisao Harihara - Advisor, Mr. Tomohiro Egawa – Team Leader of Environment & CSR Department of Sumitomo Japan, Mr. Hiroshi Karashima – General Director of Sumitomo Corporation Vietnam LLC, Mr. Akira Makiuchi – Deputy General Manager and Ms. Natsu Hashimoto – Deputy General Manager of Corporate Planning & Coordination Department, Sumitomo Corporation Vietnam LLC. From NEU, there were Assoc Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Cuong - Vice President, MA. Pham Sy Long - Deputy Director of International Cooperation Department.
Within the framework of Memorandum of Understanding between the National Economics University and Sumitomo Corporation Japan singed on 1 November 2012, Sumitomo Corporation (SC) annually organizes two lectures by senior experts on economic management for NEU students. This lecture series equip students with practical knowledge and bring them opportunities to study in an international environment. In 2017, the lecture was about "World Food Situation" delivered by Mr. Hisao Harihara - Advisor of the Corporation.
World Food Day is annually held on October 16 with the aim to increase public attention on topical issues around food supply. It can be said that food security has become an increasing urgent issue while food supply has suffered serious impacts. Assoc Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Cuong stated that: "In the context of international economic integration, there is a closed relationship between national and global food security. I believe that the information and experiences of Sumitomo experts will be the valuable lessons for NEU students".
During the lecture, Mr. ông Hisao Harihara provided students with the overview about world food situation, analyzed both the strengths and weaknesses of agriculture in Vietnam, which helps students apply into their study and work.
