On 5th October, National Economics University organized a ceremony to award the Friendship Medal from Vietnam Communist Party to Prof. Nancy K. Napier due to the great contributions in more than 20 years to the education and development of Vietnam.
Attending the ceremony, there were Mr. Do Binh - Director of the American Center and Ms. Karen Tang - Embassy of the United States of America, Professor Nancy K. Napier - Executive Director of the Centre for Creativity and Innovation at Boise State, Mr. Ken Petersen - Dean of Economic and Business School at Boise State University.

At the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat congratulated Prof. Nancy for achieving the Friendship Medal and appreciated her contributions to Vietnamese economy and education. Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat said: "Within the framework of capacity building project funded by SIDA and USAID, Prof. Nancy Napier has showed devotion to enhance capacity of NEU human resource in reseach and education. After completing the courses sponsored by SIDA and USAID, many participants have returned to NEU to teaching and played important roles in the university's leadership. With the main interest in Vietnamese business and economy, Prof. Nancy Napier has published in such areas as organizational innovation and transition process in Vietnam. These researches are a valuable resource for other researchers and assist public policy makers at all levels in Vietnam".

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Nancy was really proud and happy to be awarded the Friendship medal by Vietnam Government. She said that it was a perfect chance for her to confirmed the relationship between NEU and BSU. She shared that in 1994, the first time she came to Vietnam, she thought that she brought Western knowledge and business methods, which was one-side delivery. However, after arriving Vietnam, she realised that she received not only Vietnam’s knowledge in business, but also the sincere emotion, support and trust between people, which were the root for NEU-BSU as well as Vietnam-US relationship today.

Professor Nancy and Boise State Alumni
Prof. Nancy K. Napier is one of the first American professors came to Vietnam and worked at National Economics University. Since 1994, she has participated in many projects to improve the university's training quality. One of the project is the cooperation between Boise State University and National Economics University worth $8.5 million funded by Swedish International Development Cooperation (SIDA) (1994 – 2000) and USAID (2000- 2003). Within the project, there were 84 lecturers of National Economics University and other universities joining MBA degree of Boise State University. Prof. Nancy also dedicated herself to the establishment and development of NEU Business School. Specifically, Prof. Nancy created opportunities for many staffs, managers and other faculties from Boise State University to come to Hanoi and from National Economics University to Idaho in terms of researching and improving knowledge in capital mobilization, community relation and international research method. Furthermore, Prof. Nancy also supported the program cooperated between National Economics University and Boise State University, giving NEU students opportunity to transfer to Boise State University in the last 2 years in their program.
