Overview of Launching Ceremony of World Social Protection Report (2017-2019)
World Social Protection Report is organized every five years by International Labour Organization to provide assessments about Social protection system and recommend possible policies for sustainable development by 2030. Currently, Vietnam is being in hugely reformation, particularly in wage and social insurance policies. As a result, Vietnam was the first country in Asia selected to public this report and National Economics University was honour to be choose to organize Launching Ceremony of World Social Protection Report (2017-2019).
From International Labor Organization (ILO), there were Mr. Chang-Hee Lee, Director of International Labour Organization’s Office in Viet Nam; Mr. Nuno Cunha, Asia-Pacific Social Protection Senior Executive; Mr. Nguyen Hai Dat, National Coordinator, ILO’s Social Protection, Vietnam. From National Economics University, there were Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat, President; Dr. Dao Thanh Tung, Head of International Cooperation Department; Assoc Prof. Dr. Giang Thanh Long, Dean of Institute of Public Policy and Management along with lecturers, students of National Economics University.

Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat affirmed the honour to be cooperated with ILO to organize this event. “This is an important event to make assessments on Social Protection Systems in the world and recommend reasonable policies to reach sustainable development goals (SDGs) by 2030. This also is an opportunity for lecturers and students in National Economics University to update the latest news and knowledge in the world”, said Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat. The President thanked ILO for selecting National Economics University to public this important report at first in Asia. NEU’s President also looked forward to further cooperation in the future between NEU and ILO.

Also at the ceremony, Mr. Chang-Hee Lee, Director of International Labour Organization’s Office in Vietnam introduced about World Social Protection Report of ILO. He hoped that this report was able to help Vietnam to have better social protection.
Mr. Chang-Hee Lee once again affirmed the strongly commitments of ILO to cooperate with Vietnamese Government to make Vietnam become a fully-cover social protection country by 2030. Mr. Chang-Hee Lee expressed the deepest thanks to National Economics University for its support to organize this event and looked forward to further cooperation in the future.
Mr. Nuno Cunha, Asia-Pacific Social Protection Senior Executive published World Social Protection Report (2017-2019)
While Vietnam has experienced strong economic growth, it has to deal with economic, social, environment regularly. Hence, the expanding of social protection system is extremely necessary and this report will be the basement for developing social protection in Vietnam.

Social Protection System plays an important role in maintaining sustainable development, incurring social equality so Social Protection Policies has became a vital part of reducing poverty, increasing income and well-being of families, motivating the shift in economy structure and developing sustainable employment in every country. As a result, social protection research had became one of the most concern of researchers in Vietnam and all over the world.
