On 12th December, 2016, on behalf of NEU, Associate Professor. Dr. Hoang Van Cuong conferred the medal “For the course of Education” to Prof. Nguyen Xuan Thao – Director of Center for Intellectual Property Law and Innovation, Robert J. McKinney School of Law, Indiana University, the U.S with the aim to recognize her devotion to NEU development in particular and the Vietnamese education in general.
Attending the ceremony were Assoc Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Cuong – Deputy to the 14th Vietnam National Assembly, NEU’s Vice President, Assoc Prof. Dr. Tran Van Nam – Dean of Faculty of Law, MA. Pham Sy Long – Deputy Director of International Cooperation Department, Prof. Andrew Klein – Dean of McKinney Law School, and Prof. Karen Bravo - Vice Dean of McKinney Law School, the U.S.
During the time working in Vietnam, Prof. Nguyen Xuan Thao has usually participated in researching and training at several universities in Vietnam such as National Economics University, the National University Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, and the like.
In addition, Prof. Nguyen Xuan Thao provides strong support to the Vietnamese lecturers and researchers for their studies in the field of law. She has supported the Vietnamese institutions not only in building their curriculum series but also provided teaching, learning and reference materials as well as Intellectual Property.
The direct beneficiary of Prof. Xuan Thao's endeavor is NEU Faculty of Law, lecturers and students.
On the occasion of the 60th Anniversary ceremony of the National Economics University, in order to recognize Prof. Nguyen Xuan Thao’s dedication to the NEU development as well as her devotion for the Vietnamese education, Ministry of Education and Training has award Prof. Thao the medal “For the Course of Education” .

Assoc Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Cuong shared that the National Economics University was one of the leading university in the field of training in economics and business management. There are now about 1300 staff, lecturers, 51 undergraduate majors, 35 majors of Master and 25 ones of PhD. NEU is attempting to be a research oriented university, to advance joint training programs as well as to enhance exchange programs with overseas univeristies in the world. The Vice President said that through this meeting, both universities will extend their relationships, especially based on the Prof. Nguyen Xuan Thao’s connection.

Prof. Andrew Klein said that it was his pleasure to visit NEU – a university with a long history and experiences in training economics and business management and trained many excellent student generations. He also expected that the two universities would quickly implement cooperative activities in the near future.
