On the morning of 16 July 2020, Faculty of Environment, Climate Change and Urban Studies, National Economics University co-operated with Khon Khaen University, Thailand on organizing “12th NEU-KNU International Conference on Socio-Economic and Environmental Issues in Development”.
Attending the conference were Dr. Laurent Umans – First Secretary, Embassy of the Netherland in Vietnam, Dr. Sutida Ngonkum – Vice Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Khon Kaen University, Dr. Nguyen Thi Dieu Trinh - Deputy Director, Department of Science, Education, Natural Resources and Environment - Ministry of Planning and Investment. On the National Economics University side, there were Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat – Chairman of University Council, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho – Vice President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Duc Truong – Dean of Faculty of Environment, Climate Change and Urban Studies together with Heads of University’s Departments, and NEU students.
Speaking at Conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho said that in the context of international integration over the years, the National Economics University had always been active in expanding its cooperation in training and transfer of scientific and technological advances with many universities and institutions in the world. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho hoped that taking these opportunities through the conference, the National Economics University would enhance the experience of exchanging, teaching, researching and consulting for development policy, strengthening the integration. The international cooperation in training and scientific research between NEU and KKU will make contribution to the development of Thailand and Vietnam. Assoc. Prof. Vice President also expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Urban Affairs in successfully organizing the conference but still ensuring the health safety regulations in the context of many difficulties due to the effects of the Covid-19 epidemic.
Also at the Workshop, Dr. Sutida Ngonkum - Vice Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Khon Khaen University emphasized that besides the existing advantages and potentials from the 4.0 Technology Revolution, our region is facing unprecedented challenges; economic development leading to increasing social inequality and poverty. Through the conference, she looked forward to the cooperation among researchers to find the ideas to solve the impact of climate change in the short and long term.
The 12th International Scientific Conference, titled "Economic, Social and Environmental Issues in Development", has attracted the participation of many domestic and international scientists with 102 research papers in 7 main areas including: Economics and integration, Business administration, Regional and dual management, Education, Social sciences and humanities, Environmental economics, Climate change and sustainable management , Digital Economics and information technology. The conference is an opportunity for experts and scientists to share their perspectives, perspectives and findings on existing issues. The conference was a great success with many useful policies, tools and solutions, contributing to solving development issues, towards a more stable, effective and sustainable area.
