On 10th August 2016, Dr. Neil Stott - Executive Director of the Centre for Social Innovation, University of Cambridge paid a visit to National Economics University. Attending the visit, there were Mr. Alex Lambert - Deputy Director of British Council and Mrs. Tran Thi Hong Gam - Development and Society Manager. From NEU, there were Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat - President, Assoc Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho - Director of Science Management Department, MA. Pham Sy Long - Deputy Director of International Cooperation Department, Assoc Prof. Dr. Truong Nam Thang - Lecturer of Faculty of Business Management.
Warmly welcome Dr. Stott to NEU, Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat was pleased to inform Dr. Stott that in November, NEU would celebrate the 60th anniversary of establishment (1956-2016). It would be a milestone in development history of NEU - the leading university in training and researching economics, management and business administration in Vietnam. Prof. Dat affirmed that NEU was willing to cooperate with Britsh Council and University of Cambridge in the field of social enterprises and innovation.
Dr. Neil Stott - Executive Director of the Centre for Social Innovation, University of Cambridge said that during his trip to NEU, he hoped to strengthen the relationship between NEU and BC, as well as seek for new collaborative chances between NEU and University of Cambridge, especially in researching social innovation.
Dr. Neil Stott was Chief Executive of Keystone Development Trust for 13 years. Keystone is one of the largest development trusts in the country delivering, community development, social enterprises and property development (commercial, community and housing). He is now a Senior Associate of Locality’s consultancy, Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA), Senior Fellow of the Institute of Place Management (SFIPM), and Visiting Fellow at Anglia Ruskin University. At Cambridge Judge Business School, Neil is a Senior Faculty Member in Management. He teaches in the MBA and EMBA programmes and is Director of a new Master of Studies in Social Innovation due to start in October 2016. His knowledge and research has contributed to numerous policy and academic publications.
After the meeting with NEU Administration, Dr. Stott met the key lectuers and researchers concerning social enterprises and social innovation. During the meeting, Dr. Stott shared the information about activities at the Centre for Social Innovation, University of Cambridge and gave some recommendations on developing Social Innovation Centre at NEU.
In the afternoon, Dr. Neil Stott gave a professional talk on social innovation to NEU students and lecturers.
