The lecture focused on the issues: introduction of Sumitomo Corporation and its business activities in Vietnam, the Group's global logistics business system, and typical examples of its success in logistics business, delegations in some countries, the future prospects of the logistics business ...The development of the Logistic industry has contributed significantly to national economic growth, market expansion and economic restructuring. Currently, Vietnam has about 3000 companies operating in the field of logistics, mainly small and medium companies are actively participating in both domestic and foreign markets. Vietnam's logistics industry is thriving with a growth rate of 15-16% a year. According to a recent World Bank report, Vietnam is currently ranked fourth in logistics growth in ASEAN region after Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. However, there are still challenges for Vietnam to enhance the effectiveness of logistics activities as Vietnam's logistics performance index dropped from 48 in 2014 to 64 in 2016.
To address this issue, Vietnam needs to identify its need to focus on four key areas including facilitating trade facilitation by simplifying customs and specialized management regulations; improve the efficiency of trade-related infrastructure and connectivity quality, build a more competitive logistics industry, and strengthen inter-industry coordination and cooperation with the private sector. Both the public and private sectors need to contribute to improving the logistics industry. The World Bank has also asked the government of Vietnam and the private sector to have a clear reform program to improve the quality of logistics services to meet the growing needs of the economy today.
At the end of the lecture, the Q&A session and discussion between students and experts from the Group took place in a lively, open atmosphere. Students are excited to ask interesting questions for professionals and have received satisfying, rewarding answers. After attending 2 lectures and writing essays as required, students will receive a certificate and the opportunity to receive scholarships from the Sumitomo Corporation.
