From January 15th to 19th 2018, NEU delegation headed by Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat, President paid working trips to many institutions and universities in Taiwan within the framework of NEU project on developing international cooperation with Taiwan and the international project “Enhancing cooperation between NEU and Taiwanese research institutions about climate change and disaster risk management”. In this trip, NEU also signed agreement on joint training program in Financial Technology with Asia University.

Visiting National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism
NKUHT is the only national university in Taiwan providing specialization in Hospitality and Tourism. NKUHT's training philosophy is to promote comprehensive education to nurture talents in the hospitality and tourism industry as well as to integrate theory with pratice in order to enhance students competitiveness. NKUHT is ranked 46th in the world, 6th in Asia and 1st in Taiwan according to the World Ranking in Hospitality and Tourism.
Attending the meeting with NEU delegation, there were Prof. Pearl Lin, President; Dr. Tzu-Ling Charline Chang, Dean of International Affairs Office; Dr. Kikukawa Hideo, Section Chief of International Exchange Section International Affairs Office; Dr. Max Wu; Section Chief of Public Relations Section, Secretariat Office. NSYSU is one of the high-ranked university in the world which ranked 388 overall according to QAWorld University’s ranking. NSYSU is one of the high-ranked university in the world which ranked 388 overall according to QAWorld University’s record and NSYSU is researching oriented with 45% students are studying master with high ability in researching with international standard. During the meeting, two universities discussed about activities in the future based on the signed MOU between the two universities. Otherwise than activities in 2017, the two universities agreed to increase in exchanging students, lecturers, to promote cooperation in researching, NEU will send more researchers and encourage more students to study doctors at NSYSU.

Based on the MOU between NEU and NSYSU, leaders of two universities have exchanged and discussed about effective collaborative approaches in the coming years. In addition to the academic exchanges at the international conferences conducted in 2017, the two representatives agreed to promote student, lecturers exchanges, collaboration in research, and particularly . NEU will send NCS to learn methodology at NSYSU as well as encourage young lecturers to train PhD at NSYSU under Taiwan Ministry of Education Scholarships or NSYSU scholarships.

NEU delegation visited Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology
Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology (STUST) is one of the most prestigious universities in Taiwan. According to UniRanking, STUST is currently ranked 21 out of 144 universities ranked in Taiwan and its Institute of Management was accredited by AACSB (AACSB-Accredited).

At STUST, Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat, President of National Economics University and Prof. Deng-Maw Lu, Interim President of STUST had signed MOU between two universities. Attending the signing ceremony, there were Prof. Te-Kuang Chou, Dean of College of Business; Dr. Jack Wang, Dean of Office of International Affairs and representatives of STUST with NEU delegation. Addressing at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat proposed to co-operate with STUST in training and researching in the fields of Digital Marketing, D-Commerce, Blockchain and AI. STUST also expressed the willingness to accept lecturers from NEU to study doctoral course. Joining doctoral course at STUST, participants would receive financial support from STUST and Ministry of Education of Taiwan and be exempt from tuition fee.

Asia University is (AU) ranked 801/1000 in the list of top universities in the world according to THE (Times Higher Education). From February 2017, College of Management of AU was accredited by AACSB. Currently, there are about 800 school of management were accredited by AACSB (22 in Taiwan) all around the world.

At AU, Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat and Dr. Jeffrey J.P. Tsai had signed the agreement on 2+2 joint training program in Financial Technology (FinTech program) in which after finishing the first two years at NEU, students would study 2 years at AU. FinTech has developed strongly recently, following the international trend of financial liberalization, globalization and industrial revolution 4.0. The training program not only focuses on knowledge in banking, finance, investment and financial management but also helps students obtain updated knowledge and skills about information technology.
NEU and AU leaders also agreed on promoting co-operation between two universities by developing summer exchange program, long-term student exchange programs, joint researches and seminars. They also discussed short-term training course for NEU lecturers and trainee about website designing or developing research capability. Asia University expressed willingness to give scholarships for NEU’s lecturers to study doctoral course at AU.

National Taipei University (NTPU) is currently ranked 801 out of 1000 according to the THE (Times Higher Education). NTPU is currently one of the best universities in Taiwan, especially in the field of business, public, law, humanities and social sciences.

Representatives from the Ministry of Education of Taiwan gave an introduction about the Taiwanese higher education system, the requirement for accreditation of higher education, research cooperative opportunities and a variety of different scholarships for postgraduate training.
