On September 9th 2019,
Assoc Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho, Vice President of National Economics University
had presented Certificate of Recognition to Ms. Cherrell Picton – International
Volunteer from Australian Volunteers International.
Attending the program there were Assoc Prof.
Dr. Truong Nam Thang, Director of NEU Center for Social Innovation and
Entrepreneurship (CSIE); Dr. Vu Trong Nghia, Director of Communication
Department and members of NEU Center for Social
Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
With expert knowledge and experience in terms
of marketing and social entrepreneurships, Ms. Cherrell Picton wants to
contribute to the socioeconomic development of Vietnam.
At the ceremony, Assoc Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho,
Vice President of National Economics University thanked Ms. Cherrell Picton for
her contributions to the development of NEU Center for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship. NEU Vice
President believed that her contribution will support innovation
activities, enhance the cooperation between NEU and business in Vietnam and around the world.
From June 2019, Ms. Cherrell Picton supported NEU Center for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship to
develop the relationship with organizations and universities in Australia to
conduct researches and publish the book about Social Entrepreneurship Vietnam
– Ireland, develop and deliver the Vietnam Youth Program for Social
Innovation. At the same time, Ms. Cherrell Picton and CSIE had developed a
marketing strategy for digital mapping of Social Impact Enterprises in Vietnam
– one of the first three digital map in the world about social enterprises.
Launched in February 2018, the Australian
Volunteer Program represented for long-term commitment of Australian Government
for international volunteer work. Over the next 5 years, Australian Government
will support more than 5000 Australian citizens in all ages and careers in
volunteering in many countries including Vietnam. The program will continue to
contribute to development goals of Australian Government as well as innovation
activities, cooperating with enterprises and increase the link between
Australia and countries in the region.
Vietnam ranked fifth in all volunteer hosted
countries of Australia International Volunteer program. In 2018 – 2019, there
will be have more than 40 volunteers from Australia to work in government
agencies , non-government organizations, research organizations and private
sectors in the Government’s priority.
