On the occasion of business trip in Vietnam, Mr. Chung Chiapin - Legislator, The Legistative Yuan of the Republic of China and President of Taiwan-Vietnam Congressional Association paid a visit to the National Economics University and met Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat - Preisdent. Attending the meeting, there were Assoc Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Cuong - Vice President, MA. Pham Sy Long - Deputy Director of International Cooperation Department. Accompanying with Mr. Chung Chiapin, there were Mr. Lee ming - Taipei Educational Counsellor and Ms. Vu Kieu Hung - Representative of National Changhua University in Vietnam.
At the meeting, Mr. Chung Chiapin said that Taipei Government established many policies aimed at boosting educational collaboration, especially in expanding and developing partnership with Vietnamese universities. During his trip, he desired to enhance cooperation with Ministry of Education and Training as well as seek new cooperative chances with universities in Vietnam. It was the fact that many Taipei universities, institutes owned international center providing programs in English. Therefore, Mr. Chung believed that there would be many Vietnamese students applying to study in Taiwan and Taipei Government would be willing give them financial support in the future.
Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat gave a brief introduction to Taipei delegation NEU history and development. The President was delighted to inform that NEU ceremonially organized the 60th anniversary (1956-2016) which marked a milestone in the delopment path of NEU and received great attention of its alumni. NEU was one of the leading universities in Economics, Public Management and Business Administration in Vietnam, which supplied the economy with thousands of economic experts abd business managers every year. Many of NEU alumni were well recognized and holding key positions in the Government, the Party and Corporations. One of NEU successful alumni was Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc. Besides, Prof. Dat also introduced NEU Educational Center which was being built and expectedly finished in 2017, which provided students an ideal acadamic environment with advanced facilities and excelent education. Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat asserted that extending collaboration with Taipei universities was one of important goals within NEU development strategy. Over the years, NEU had cooperated with many universities in Taiwan in exchanging students, jointly holding conferences and syposiums and the like. NEU was seeking new opportunities in scientific collaboration with Taipei partners, especially in the field of eliminating environment pollution.
Assoc Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Cuong - Vice President highly appreciated the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Taiwan which was the foundation for educational and research cooperation between univeritites of the two countries. The Vice President espressed his desire that Mr. Chung would promote the partnership between Vietnam and Taiwan as well as between NEU and Taipei partners.
