On
June 29, 2022, in Da Lat City, the Institute for Sustainable
Development, National Economics University (NEU) in collaboration with
the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Vietnam organized a
training course "Writing Case Studies on Business and Human Rights” for
lecturers and researchers from 4 universities: National Economics University,
Banking Academy in Bac Ninh, Da Lat University and Saigon University.

Attending
the Opening Ceremony, regarding UNDP, there were Mr. Patrick Haverman -
Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP Viet Nam and Ms. Ha Phung -
program officer. On the side of foreign embassies were Ms. Grete Lochen -
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Norway in Vietnam, and
Ms. Sandra Wilderoth - Trade and Promotion Officer of the Embassy of
Sweden in Vietnam. As
for National Economics University, there were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van
Thang - Director; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Canh – Deputy Dean of the
Institute of Sustainable Development; Dr. Dinh Le Hai Ha, Deputy Dean of
School of Trade and International Economics. As regards Da Lat
University, there were Dr. Nguyen Van Anh - Dean of Faculty of Tourism
and Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Ngan - Deputy Dean of Faculty of Tourism. As
for Saigon University, there were Dr. Nguyen Phan Thu Hang - Dean of
Faculty of Business Administration and Dr. Phan Dinh Nghi - Deputy Dean
of Faculty of Business Administration. The Banking Academy (Bac Ninh)
has M. Thanh Kim Hue - Director; M. Ngo Thu Hoang - Dean of Faculty of
Finance; M. Nguyen Kim Phuong - Head of Organization and Administration
Department along with lecturers and researchers from the four
universities mentioned above.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Thang, Dean of the Institute for Sustainable Development gave a speech

activity is a small component and is supported by the Business and
Human Rights in Asia (B+HR Asian) program of UNDP, the European Union
(EU), the Swedish Government, Norwegian Embassy, along with UNDP to
promote the The UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights in
Asia. It also works towards promoting Sustainable Economic Development
based on close partnerships with Asian governments, businesses and civil
society, through dialogue, training, research, support and
awareness-raising activities.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Canh, Deputy Dean the Institute for Sustainable Development presented the lecture
Business
and human rights are receiving increasing attention around the world
and the reality has also shown the need to include them in training
courses. Therefore, in order to establish learning journeys and
responsible business training materials which are more impactful
(formal, omnipresent, appropriate and highly practicable), UNDP and
National Economics University invited three more universities: Banking
Academy in Bac Ninh, Da Lat University and Saigon University, to
participate in developing typical case studies on human rights in
business.

Management (NEU) hosted and coordinated the Opening Ceremony
Stating
at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Thang, Dean of the Institute of
Sustainable Development, on behalf of the participating universities,
thanked the assistance of UNDP, the Swedish Government, and the
Norwegian Embassy. Besides, he also thanked the teachers for their
enthusiastic participation and thanked the leaders of the schools for
their support and agreement to carry out this activity.
Assoc.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tat Thang, Vice President of Da Lat University, gave a
speech to welcome members of the training session working at Da Lat
University.
The
training course, which was organized on June 29 and 30, is expected to
contribute to making the teaching of business and human rights possible
in the Vietnamese context, thanks to the use of research studies.
