On Wednesday 16 June 2021, the National Economics University, supported by the Faculty of Environmental, Climate Change and Urban Studies, collaborated with the Saxion University of Applied Science, Netherlands, to co-host the “Saxion – NEU Draw-Down Project” via the support of the Faculty of Environmental, Climate Change and Urban Studies. The project is funded by NUFFIC, within the framework of the Orange Knowledge Program – Tailor Made Training (OKP-TMT).

At the workshop, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong expressed the most appreciation to the long-lasting cooperation between NEU and Saxion University. Over the years, the two universities have built strong and long-lasting professional, and even personal relationships. The success of the Profession Oriented Higher Education (POHE) program in NEU since 2008 is a strong provement. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong conformed that NEU continues to develop itself in internationalization, modernization training programs on climate change and water economics and management. This displays the NEU’s commitment to providing labour market relevant education to improve the job prospects of graduates for the benefit of employees, employers and to best serve the national interest of the government and the nation’s citizens.
Learning from prior collaborations, the president believes this project can be run effectively with cooperation across the board. National Economics University, as always, are willing to learn, to gain experience, to share and to support its partners not only within the framework of this project but on many sustainable cooperations in the future.

The Saxion-NEU Draw Down project aims to modernize and internationalize the climate change and water-food economics course in Vietnam. The rationale of the project is to transfer (educational) experiences and successfully implemented innovations in the Netherlands to Vietnam and to modernize the curriculum to valorize the transitions made to deal with climate change. The aim is to create synergies between project and partners in the Southeast Asia region to connect and learn in order to enhance knowledge exchange in this thematic area.

Speaking at the closing remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Duc Truong, Dean of the Faculty of Environmental, Climate Change and Urban studies, on behalf of the university's leader, thanked all experts for the participation, and expressed his belief that the project will be successful.
