On the afternoon of October 28, 2019, the National Economics University in collaboration with Trinity College Dublin held a seminar on “Principles of integrating social creativity and social enterprises into business training programs: experience of Trinity College Dublin University "within the framework of the project" Vietnam - Ireland Bilateral Education Exchange "(VIBE) of the Irish Embassy in Vietnam.
Attending the Conference, on the side of Trinity College Dublin, there was Ms. Mary Lawlor - member of the Advisory Board of Business School, Trinity College Dublin University; Assoc. Prof. Mary-Lee Rhodes - Co-Director of the Center for Social Innovation, Business School, Trinity College Dublin University. From the National Economics University, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho - Vice President of the school; Assoc.Prof. Dr. Truong Thi Nam Thang - Director of Center for Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation; with numerous scientists, researchers, faculty and students throughout the school
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho - Vice President emphasized that the National Economics University is one of the few universities in Asia and the first university in Vietnam that has a Center for Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship and we are proud that CSIE is not only a leader in research and advocacy, but also a leader in creativity and social enterprises, creating social impact not only in Vietnam but also in the region. However, we also recognize that, in order to be able to effectively deploy the integration of social creativity and social enterprises into business training programs, it is necessary to learn the experience of the national partner. The business school of Trinity University is a strong partner with many successful experiences in this. Assoc. The Vice Principal hoped that the seminar program will contribute to further promoting business activities and social creativity in Vietnam.
Ms. Mary Lawlor - a member of the advisory board of the School of Business, Trinity College Dublin University with many years of experience as the founder and executive of non-governmental organizations in Ireland, presented a presentation on the role and relationship between business and society, especially the role of businesses in creating a fair society. According to Prof. Mary Lawlor, economics training institutions play a huge role in changing the perception of learners - future economists or business owners.
In the main presentation, Assoc. Mary-Lee Rhodes, co-director of the Center for Social Innovation, School of Business, Trinity College Dublin University mentioned the changing global context, business training also needs to change, in which it is necessary to have training of leadership ethics, sustainable development, as well as training of life skills. Assoc. Mary-Lee Rhodes also shared the principles of education, incorporating content of business ethics, social entrepreneurship, and social creativity into all business training programs at bachelor level and graduate.
With guests as representatives of Northern universities and representatives of Trinity College Dublin, the seminar together discussed the current situation of integrating content related to creativity, businesses in schools, challenge and discuss specific actions to effectively integrate these into the curriculum in Vietnam.
