On the afternoon of October 22th, 2021, the National Economics University cooperating with Thai Nguyen University of Economics and Business Administration, the Startup Support Center, Kazakh Economic Institute, Taiwan Trung Nguyen University and other partners organized an international scientific conference with the theme "Developing an innovative and creative startup ecosystem in the changing world”.
At the conference, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the NEU Council; Dr. Pham Hong Quat - Director of Science and Technology Enterprise and Market Development Department; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Anh Tai - Chairman of the Council of Thai Nguyen University of Economics and Business Administration; together with representatives of leaders of units, scientists, and experts.
In the opening of the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council, said that over the last two years, Vietnam, which had been an inactive startup ecosystem ranking the penultimate among the six largest ASEAN countries, had developed to become the third place, just behind Indonesia and Singapore. Currently, the innovation startup ecosystem has had important components including individuals, innovative start-up organizations, venture capital funds, business-supporting organizations, university, research-supporting facilities... Components in the ecosystem have an increasing connection to promote entrepreneurship. In addition to the development, Vietnam in particular and other countries around the world are facing difficulties caused by the drastic change of the economy in the context of the pandemic.
Drastic changes in the worldwide economy in recent years such as the 4.0 technology revolution associated with digital transformation, trade wars and especially the impact of the Covid pandemic have had a significant impact on the development of components in the innovative startup ecosystem of countries. In that context, the conference was aimed to give the answer to the question: What measures do countries take to develop the startup ecosystem and adapt to the environment?
Dr. Pham Hong Quat - Director of the Department of Market Development and Science and Technology Enterprises emphasized there had been a substantial change in technology, organizational and management model around the world. He said that the conference would be a forum for scientists, experts, managers, start-ups, and entrepreneurs to exchange opinions, research results , and practical experiences to develop an innovative start-up ecosystem in Vietnam in the context of a volatile world.
At the conference, scientists and experts provided novelty perspectives on the following issues: business models in a new context; opportunities and challenges of Vietnam's innovation and startup ecosystem in the post-Covid context; Israeli startup ecosystem; India's experience in developing an innovative startup ecosystem and startups-supporting policies of the State in Kazakhstan.
The conference brought the attendees multi-dimensional, fresh and practical perspectives on the innovative startup ecosystem of Vietnam as well as other countries around the world.
