On December 14, 2018, the National Economics University co-operated with Logistics Knowledge System, the University of Bremen and Osnabrueck Logistics College, Germany to organize "International Integration Training and Developing Logistics Human Resources in Vietnam" conference.
Attending the seminar, guests were Prof. Hans-Dietrich Haasis - University of Bremen, Germany; Prof. Dr. Irina Dovbischuk - University of Bremen, Germany; Prof. Deane Van Pham - United States; Prof. Dr. Dong Man Kim - United States. There were also Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Trong Lam - Vice Director of Truth Publishing House; Mr. Phan Thong - Chairman of the Vietnam Shippers Association. On behalf of the National Economics University, Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat - NEU President; Prof. Dr. Luong Xuan Quy - Former NEU President; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Huong - Former NEU President; Prof. Dr. Le Du Phong - Former NEU President; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Do - Former NEU Vice President; Prof. Dr. Phan Cong Nghia - Former NEU Vice President; Prof. Dr. Ta Van Loi - Dean of School of Trade and International Economics, representatives of leaders of departments, socio-political organizations in the whole university; with speakers, scientists, researchers.
On behalf of NEU, Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat - NEU President welcomed the presenters and scientists who attended at the conference on ‘International Integration Training and Developing Logistics Human Resources in Vietnam’ was first held at the National Economics University. Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat said:” Today, with the presence in many different areas of the economy, logistics has grown rapidly and brought many successes to many countries in the world. Talking about logistics is about efficiency, optimization in industries, businesses and the economy; logistics means the efficiency of the process, supply chain; It contrasts with local interests, group interests that harm the national interests. However, in Vietnam, logistics and human resources are both lacking and weak, which is due to the fact that logistics development in our country is in the early stages of development”. Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat added: “According to Vietnam Supply Chain Association, at present, logistics personnel in Vietnam still exist shortage, does not meet the needs of the industry. There are nearly 300,000 logistics enterprises in Vietnam with a workforce of about 1.5 million. However, current human resources only cover about 40% of the industry”.
Prof. Dr. Ta Van Loi - Dean of the School of Trade and International Economics, said: ‘Logistics is an important service sector in the overall structure of the national economy, playing a supporting role of linking and promoting the socio-economic development of the whole country as well as each locality, contributing to raising the competitiveness of the economy; Development of logistics services into a service sector will brings high value-added prices, linking logistics services with the development of commodity production, import and export and trade in the country, development of transport infrastructure and information technology”.
From various perspectives, the presentations focused on the issues of training and developing logistics human resources in Vietnam, opportunities and challenges in the development process. Responding to the current situation of training and developing human resources for logistics in localities, enterprises and current issues need promote the development of Vietnam logistics industry on a par with the countries in the area and in the world.
Previously, Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat - NEU President had a friendly reception and a conversation with the guests from Germany and the United States. At the reception, he presented the overview of the history of development and also the outstanding achievements in the training, scientific research and international cooperation of the National Economics University. Also at the meeting, Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat sent thanks and hope the guests would have a successful and interesting conference at the National Economics University.
