On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Vietnamese Teacher' s Day and 40 years of Postgraduate Training, on the morning of November 18th 2017, Lao alumni held a meeting with Lao students and Cambodian students at the National Economics University.

Attending the meeting, from distinguished guests, there were Dr. Khammany Inthirath- member of Central Committee of Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, Minister of Energy and Minerals; Dr. Bounchanh Sinthavong, member of Central Committee of Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, Minister of Transportation, Works and Construction Department; Dr. Somphao Phaisith, member of Central Committee of Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, Governor of the Central Bank of Laos; Dr. Athsaphangthong Siphandone, Deputy Minister of Finance; Dr. Vongsack Phanthavong, Lieutenant General, deputy Director of general department of Logistical Lao people’s Army, Dr Huongphet Chathavong, Deputy Director of National University of Laos; Mr. Amphavanh Kouangmanivanh, Cultural Counselor of Lao Embassy. From National Economics University, there were Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat, President; Assoc Prof. Dr. NguyenThanh Ha, Chairman of NEU Council; Prof. Dr. Phan Cong Nghia, Former President; Assoc Prof. Dr. Le Trung Thanh, Dean of Graduate School; Dr. Dao Thanh Tung, Head of International Cooperation Department; Assoc Prof. Dr. Bui Van Hung, Deputy Director of Graduate School; MA. Making a speech at the meeting, Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat, President of the National Economics University warmly welcomed delegates to participate the meeting between Lao alumni and Laos students, Cambodian students of the National Economics University. He said that this event was one of the most meaningful activities throughout the university’s activities during the 35th anniversary of Vietnamese Teacher's Day and 40 years of Postgraduate Training. He emphasized: "The university is proud of the outstanding alumni who have been successful in their positions. Former Lao and Cambodian researchers have made great contributions to the country's socio-economic development and to the Laos-Vietnam-Cambodia cooperation. Today's meeting is an significant one since it gives us the opportunity to meet the generations of postgraduates at the university who hold important positions in the Lao government. This is an opportunity for Lao alumni with lecturers to review and share their ideas, experiences in studying, researching at the National Economics University”.

Making a speech at the meeting, Dr. Khammany Inthirath, Member of Central Committee of Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, Minister of Energy and Minerals, on behalf of the former graduate students, sincerely thanked NEU for its hospitality. Dr. Khammany INTHIRATH said: "Being NEU alumni, I and my classmates have been delighted to return to our university on the occasion of the 35th Anniversary of Vietnamese Teacher’s Day. There are many activities to prepare for the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between two countries.Today, I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the leaders and teachers of the National Economics University for transferring knowledge and supporting us during study at the university. In the forthcoming time, we would like to have more activities to strengthen our partnership". He wished that Lao students would always be one of the clues to enhance relationship between 2 sides as well as strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
