On
the afternoon of August 1, 2022, National Economics University in
collaboration with the Education Technology Company Coursera organized
the Coursera Kick-off meeting for 85 staff and
lecturers of NEU.
The overall view of the event
Attending
the event, with regard to National Economics University, there were
Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong - NEU President; Dr. Dao Thanh Tung – Head of
Department of International Cooperation. Concerning Coursera , there
was Mr. Eklavya Bhave - APAC Regional Sales Manager; along with
representatives of leaders of the two units and staff, lecturers
participating in the course.
Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong - NEU President - stated
Giving
the opening speech, Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong stated that National
Economics University always encourages innovation and creativity in
teaching, studying and research. Every year, NEU always sends staff and
lecturers to long-term and short-term training courses at prestigious universities around the world.
Coursera
is one of the leading online learning platforms, with thousands of
courses provided by more than 200 of prestigious universities and
companies. Moreover, the site offers individual courses as well as
bachelor's and master's degree programs that help reduce barriers to
higher education. Therefore, with its reputation and quality courses,
the National Economics University has chosen Coursera as a strategic
partner to improve capability and enhance training programs. In the
first phase of cooperation, the National Economics University sent 85
lecturers to participate in online courses on the Coursera platform. It
is a great opportunity for staff and lecturers of NEU to gain advanced pedagogic knowledge
and skills. The principal believed that the knowledge attained through
courses on the Coursera would constructively support the lecturers in
the future teaching and research process.
Coursera is known to be a platform specializing in providing online courses, also called MOOCs - Massive Open Online Courses.
These online courses are developed by leading universities around the
world that are also partners of Coursera, including Stanford, Duke, Penn,
Princeton, Michigan, Peking, etc. Languages used in these courses are
quite diverse, most of which is English. ./.
