On the morning of October 30, 2019, National Economics University held a professional seminar with the theme "Environmental protection and sustainable development in Taiwan and Vietnam".
Attending the seminar, on the side of international delegates, there were Mr. I-Hsing Chen - Director of Taiwan Environment Protection Administration; Prof. Tsai, Jiun-horng - National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan Academy of Environment; Mr. Tseng, Wen-lung - Secretary of Science & Technology, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam; Mr. Kuan, Chang-sheng - Vice Chairman of Taiwan Environment & Industry Organization, and many officials and experts went together. From the National Economics University, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho - Vice President; Assoc.Prof. Dr. Dinh Duc Truong - Dean of Environment, Climate Change and Urban Department; with representatives of departments, faculties, institutes and centers in the whole school; members of Science & Training Council; staff, faculty, and students throughout the school.
Addressing at the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho - Vice President thanked the experts, scientists, lecturers for taking the time to attend the seminar. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho shared that, like Taiwan and many other countries in the world, Vietnam is facing many challenges of environmental pollution including air, water and solid waste. The main causes of these environmental challenges include urbanization, industrialization, and weak enforcement of environmental laws. Vietnam is on the path of development towards sustainability, which requires effective research, exploration and implementation of environmental issues, especially in the context of climate change. Comprehensive environmental and economic strategies will bring about sustainable development benefits, including improved biodiversity, reduced environmental pollution and more rational use of natural resources. Assoc. The Vice President hoped that the seminar was not only an opportunity for organizations and experts to discuss environmental and sustainable development issues in Taiwan and Vietnam; but also provide experts, managers with valuable information for appropriate policy decisions in the future.
Through the seminar, regulators, academia, national and international experts have the opportunity to share ideas, experiences and lessons about environmental protection, and propose Policy implications The Government needs to act towards sustainable development goals.
Earlier, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho - Vice President of the school had a warm welcome and conversed with the delegation of Taiwan Ministry of Environment officials. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duc Tho shared that environmental protection is one of the global and Vietnamese issues of concern, so the National Economics University wishes to have more opportunities to cooperate with academic institutions. technology, environmental studies and sustainable development policies in the near future to pave the way for the promotion of training and research on environmental issues and sustainable development of the National Economics University in the future.
