Since
its establishment, NEU has always paid
special attention to developing
international
academic cooperation. To date, it has cooperation with over 100 institutions
and organisation from 30 countries including: Austria, Australia, Belgium,
Cambodia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, Lao, Malaysia, New Zealand,
Netherlands, Singapore, Thailand, the UK, USA, and so on. In the early years of
the Renovation, it received support from the governments of many countries. The
university’s international cooperation activities include not only cooperative
training programs but also joint research projects and other activities, such as lecturer and student
exchanges.
NEU was one of the first universities in Vietnam to
implement joint training programmes with overseas universities. Currently, NEU
has 21 joint training programs. All of its international programmes are of
highly appreciated and
have attracted the
involvement of many distinguished students.
NEU is well known for international research cooperation. A
number and scale of research studies jointly conducted by NEU and international academic
organizations have been increased substantially. These research studies are recognized and highly appreciated for their high quality. There are joint
projects conducted in accordance with agreements between the Vietnamese
Government and the governments of Hungary, UK, Netherlands, Germany, Thailand
and others. NEU has been
involved in research projects
in cooperation with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Foundation of Vietnam
Development Forum (VDF), the
National Graduate Institute
for Policy Studies (GRIPS),
the World Bank (WB), the Asia Development Bank
(ADB), the Department for International
Development (DFID - UK), and
Ausaid (Australia).
International cooperation programs have made significant contributions to the university’s
achievements. Thanks to the achievements in this field, NEU has been praised
and recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, as one of the few
universities in the country with diversified and effective international cooperation programs. NEU has been well
prepared to take part in the international cooperation activities in an
integrated and global context on a sustainable and equal partnership basis.
