On 12th October 2016, Faculty of Insurance, National Economics University in collaboration with Dongbu Cultural Foundation and Post-Telecommunication Joint Stock Insurance Corporation (PTI) organized the ceremony of conferring Dongbu scholarship to NEU students.
From Dongbu Corporation (Dongbu Corp.) and PTI, there were Mr. Bui Trung Kien - Deputy General Director of PTI., Mr. Choi Kyong Sik – Head of Innovation and Development Department, Dongbu Cultural Foundation.
From NEU, there were Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat - President; Dr. Nguyen Thi Chinh - Dean of Faculty of Insurance; Assoc Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Son - Dean of Faculty of Planning and Development; representatives of NEU’s units and 20 students from Faculty of Insurance and Faculty of Planning and Development.
Being a Korean global conglomerate corporation with, Dongbu ranked as one of the top ten Korean conglomerates in 2000 based on a report by the Fair Trade Commission of the Korean Government. Since the 1980s, a part from Korea’s much needed core industries as steel, fertilizer, construction, logistics and finance, Dongbu aggressively expanded into high-tech industries and the global financial services industry including insurance. Since 2011, Dongbu ran a representative office in Viet Nam and became a strategic partner of PTI on 29th January 2015. Following the agreement between Dongbu and PTI, Dongbu authorized PTI to coordinate with NEU in order to conferred scholarship of Dongbu Cultural Foundation to students of Insurance Faculty, Planning and Development Faculty, NEU. It was the second time Dongbu Cultural Foundation conferring schorlarship to NEU students who got the excellent study results.
On behalf of PTI, MR. Bui Trung Kien stated the commitment of PTI to support NEU – one of the leading universities training Economics and Business Administration in Vietnam.
Mr. Choi Kyong Sik said that Dongbu supported students not only in Korea but also in other countries including Vietnam. He hoped that the scholarships would provide students motivation for studying and endeavor to overcome difficulties as well as poverty in their lives and study.
Making speech at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat respectfully thanked to Dongbu Corporation, PTI for their support. The President asserted that Vietnam-Korea relationship was comprehensive one with cooperative activities in potitics, trade and investment, culture and education. Educational cooperation between two countries had long history and developed strongly recently. Korea was the country having the biggest number of univerisites signing agreement with NEU in the field of student and staff exchange, joint education and research… The President also hoped that NEU student who received scholarship would take advantage of the scholarships in their learning and lives.
Apart from schorlarship, Dongbu Cultural Foundation also conferred several equipments for Faculty of Insurance and Faculty of Planning and Development, NEU.
