In 2018, the National Economics University launched a new program: Bachelor of Financial Technology (FinTech). This is the first bachelor program in financial technology in Vietnam.
Fintech 2 + 2 is a partnership program between the National Economics University and Asia University in Taiwan.
Dr. Dang Anh Tuan, Deputy Director of Institute of Banking - Finance of NEU, said that the Financial Technology (FinTech) program was the determination and action of NEU in supporting and promoting the technology revolution 4.0 in the field of Finance - Banking in Vietnam by training a strong workforce specialized in Finance and Financial Technology, which is insufficient in both quality and quantity in the current market.
Dr. Luong Thai Bao, Head of International Finance Department at NEU, said that as FinTech was a combination of Finance and Technology, thus the content of this program consisted the knowledge of both traditional finance and financial technology.
After completing the program, students will not only be equipped with all the knowledge of a traditional finance but also the knowledge of financial technology such as financial technology management; big data ; management and application of financial database; using financial software applications; investment analysis and technology application; financial innovation; e-commerce and financial marketing; changes and financial innovation and start-up management in the financial sector.

It is known that the program has a four-year training course, in which the first two years will be implemented at the NEU and the last two
years will be conducted at Asia University, Taiwan. The whole program is taught in English in accordance with international standard. However, there will be few Chinese language class to prepare students for life in Taiwan. Advanced chinese course is free to learn at Asia University if students demand.
Mr. Pham Sy Long, deputy head of the International Cooperation Department of the National Economics University, said that the Taiwanese government and universities are accelerating internationalization in higher education so they were offering many attractive scholarships for Southeast Asian countries including Vietnam. For those students achieved excellent results in Financial Technology program, they will have the opportunity to receive scholarships from the Asia University, or the Government of Taiwan during their study in Taiwan or Taiwan graduate scholarships if there is a need for advanced study.
Candidates who complete the program will be awarded a Bachelor of Financial Technology degree from the Asia University. The total cost of the program is about VND 250 million for four years.
It is known that the Asia University is one of the schools that achieved excellent recognition in teaching quality for a consecutive period of 11 years since 2006 in Taiwan's Higher Education Quality Assessment Project, conducted by Ministry of Education Taiwan.
