In Ha Long, Quang Ninh, National Economics University and Center for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship attended the "National Innovation Day - Techfest Vietnam 2019". This is the largest annual event for the startup community in Vietnam, chaired by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Attending the event, there were Mr. Tran Van Tung - Deputy Minister of Science and Technology; Mr. Pham Hong Quat - Director of Market Development and Science-Technology Enterprise, Ministry of Science and Technology; Ms. Caitlin Wiesen - Representative of UNDP Viet Nam; Mr. Sebastian Paust - First Counselor, Head of Development Cooperation, Embassy of Federal Republic of Germany; Mr. Joakim Appelquist - Head of International Innovation, Government of Sweden. From the National Economics University, there were Prof. Dr. Tran Tho Dat - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the School Council; with members of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation; together with representatives of investors in the region.
At Techfest Vietnam 2019, the Center for Entrepreneurship and Social Creativity plays the role of Co-Village Leader at Impact Technology Start-up Village, with UNDP and the National Center for Innovative Startup (NSSC). As a co-leader, CSIE has recruited and recommended nearly 20 typical startups representing the Startup Ecosystem at the TechFest 2019. The journey of the Senses, one of the 20 Startup representatives of Impact Village, participated in the National DST Entrepreneurship Search Contest and excelled in winning the National Second Prize.
Also within the framework of the Techfest 2019 event, the Center for Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation, with UNDP and NSSC successfully organized the Workshop "Starting a business creating social impact associated with Sustainable Development Goals". The workshop is a forum for policymakers, international organizations, investors, startups to discuss the role of startups in influencing global sustainable development goals. The activities in the Workshop are highly interactive, with the participation of stakeholders in the ecosystem, especially impact-generating start-up groups and interested young people. This seminar summarized UNDP's Youth Co: Lab journey and awarded to the winning teams.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister Tran Van Tung emphasized the role of startups, especially those that create an impact in bringing Vietnam closer to the Sustainable Development Goals. The Deputy Minister also acknowledged the contributions from the Government, investors and other organizations in promoting the development of businesses and social impact over the past time and more in the future.
In the discussion session, Assoc. TS Tran Tho Dat, Chairman of the Council, National Economics University also emphasized the important role of universities in the startup ecosystem through promoting entrepreneurship and the formation of ideas. He also mentioned the activities of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation, National Economics University as a good example in promoting the social entrepreneurship ecosystem and the impact-making enterprise. society in Vietnam.
In addition to the Workshop "Starting a business creating social impact associated with the Sustainable Development Goals", within the framework of Techfest 2019, many interesting activities were also organized. The Center for Social Entrepreneurship and Creativity plays the role of Co-Village Leader in Impact Technology Entrepreneur Village, along with UNDP and the National Center for Innovative Start-ups, supporting start-ups displaying the booth exhibition and connect with investors.
