This morning (15/12/2023) at the National Economics University took place the National Scientific Conference: "E-learning training in a new context".
The scenario of the Workshop
Attending the workshop, on the side of delegates outside the school there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan The Cong - University of Commerce; Dr. Dang Huong Giang - University of Industrial Technology. On the side of National Economics University, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu - Vice President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dam Quang Vinh - Director of Distance Learning Center; together with representatives of departments, faculties, institutes and centers; lecturers, partners, authors with articles, students and institutions interested in E-learning training.
In the context of Industrial Revolution 4.0, the development of information technology (IT) is a favorable condition and has a great influence on education and training activities, forming online training methods (E-learning), becoming a training trend in the new era. Online training helps the learning environment not be limited in time and space, while reducing training costs and bringing value to society. Today, the E-learning model has gradually dominated and is increasingly deployed in higher education institutions in Vietnam.
Industry 4.0 has put higher education in front of many great challenges. In particular, the emergence of new technologies has changed the production foundation and set new requirements on human resource capacity, science and technology and knowledge. Therefore, universities in Vietnam need to be aware of the challenges that Industry 4.0 brings to be ready to change and have appropriate strategies for developing, changing training methods, investing in facilities to train high-quality human resources. Industry 4.0 poses great challenges to E-learning methods in Vietnam in the following aspects: The rapid change of science and technology requires macro policy makers and competent agencies to promptly promulgate legal regulations related to E-learning method with the correct understanding, adequately and promptly the nature of the E-learnin modality in the context of Industry 4.0. Along with that, in order to have a good and modern E-learning training environment, it is necessary to invest in science and technology because technology changes very quickly, often after only a few or three years, you have to find ways to continue investing. This is the biggest barrier and challenge in Industry 4.0 when artificial and digital intelligence develops rapidly, leading to infrastructure and facilities for E-learning training quickly becoming outdated or incompatible.
To improve the quality of training, the teaching content of E-learning also needs to be invested and developed with higher quality, truly becoming online content. To compose quality E-learning lectures requires a lot of effort from the lecturer. On the other hand, the individual needs of learners are very diverse, leading to many difficulties in designing a curriculum for common use for all students through media to achieve efficiency.
Along with that, the method and skills of teachers in online teaching are also a matter of concern. A part of lecturers lacks confidence as well as proficiency in using new technology, leading to low teaching efficiency. The interactivity and level of interaction between lecturers and students in the online training environment in Vietnam is still low.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu - Vice President of National University of Science and Technology spoke
Opening remarks, Assoc. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hieu - Vice President affirmed that online training will be a very suitable teaching and learning method in training high-quality human resources, meeting the requirements of society in the context of Industry 4.0. E-learning has contributed to profound changes in education, from time and space factors that are no longer bound to the knowledge transfer process also becoming more active from learners. However, the challenges ahead for online training are huge, requiring the efforts of schools along with the support and macro regulation of the State through guidelines and policies to turn challenges into opportunities, successfully implementing the goal of building a modern learning environment, catch up with the development trend of Industry 4.0. Therefore, the National Scientific Conference: "E-learning training in a new context" was organized by National Economics University to (i) Discuss the current situation, opportunities and challenges of E-learning training at educational institutions in Vietnam; (ii) and create a forum to exchange and share E-learning training experiences, as well as propose solutions to improve the quality of E-learning training in the new context.
ASS. Nguyen Thanh Hieu hopes that, through the topics presented at the workshop, it will contribute to finding useful and feasible solutions to improve the quality of E-learning training at higher education institutions in Vietnam in the new context. At the same time, the sharing of views, ideas and recommendations of delegates on the issues raised will make an important contribution to improving the quality of E-learning training at higher education institutions in Vietnam in a more sustainable way in the coming time.
Dr. Dang Huong Giang - University of Industrial Technology presented the presentation "Application of Chatbot in online training"
Dr. Doan Xuan Hau - National Economics University presented the presentation "Quality of E-learning programs at educational institutions in Vietnam: Current situation and recommendations"
After nearly 5 months of preparation, the Organizing Committee received a lot of submissions and selected 30 articles to be published in the Conference Proceedings. The articles focus on the following contents: Theoretical basis of online training methods (E-learning); Opportunities and challenges of E-learning training methods in the new context; Experience in E-learning training at universities around the world and Vietnam; Current situation of E-learning training at educational institutions in Vietnam; Proposing solutions for higher education institutions to improve the quality of E-learning training in the new context./.
